Pigeon Forge is located in the mountains of East Tennessee just minutes from Knoxville and the McGhee-Tyson Airport. Pigeon Forge is an easily a one day drive from most cities in the Southeast and Northeast. Pigeon Forge is now home to over 4000 residents but started as a small settlement in the 1790's. It was originally named after the passenger pigeons that were aboundant in the area. Isaac Love established the first iron forge along the banks of The Little Pigeon River and his son constructed the now famous Old Mill which has become a popular toursit stop. It is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is still operational today.
